Description of Workshop:
Join us for a creative workshop that explores New York City’s rich ballroom culture and
its pioneers: Black Trans Women. Led by class of ‘24 alumnus Jamal McIntosh and
special guest Joeury Garcia, come and learn about the legacy that nourishes queer youth around the world.

Jamal McIntosh is a proud alumnus of Lafayette College (‘24). After graduating with a
BS in Neuroscience, Jamal is now a College Success Advisor with KIPP Forward. The co-founder of The Prestigious Pardettes has kept their passion for dance alive as a
competitor in NYC’s ballroom scene. Join us for a creative workshop on the queer
history of New York City and the foundations of its rich ballroom culture pioneered by
black trans women!

Joeury Garcia, is a Freelance model and movement artist from Lowell, Massachusetts.
Her passion for the arts started early and eventually her love for dance and desire for
equity led her to the Mecca of ballroom, New York City. Here, she is nurturing her
artistry and exploring the intricacies of collective liberation.
